You must be wondering about this new feature in TikTok called “Nudge”. Well, such changes seem confusing in the beginning but once you learn them it’s pretty useful and fun as well to use them. Apps are like that they keep updating to make our user experience more efficient.
Now, let’s learn about this new feature “Nudge” in detail. So that we understand how and where to use it.
What does Nudge Mean on TikTok?
“Nudge” is quite a literal feature in TikTok. Well, literally nudge means to push someone from your elbow in order to attract their attention; here nudge feature is used for the same purpose, in order to attract someone’s attention on TikTok.
This is a similar feature to “poke” that you see in Facebook. This is a new feature available to all the users on the TikTok in DMs and also in profile view history. But not all the users can access this feature via profile screen.
Nudging someone on TikTok lets them know you wish them to go live and through DM if you nudge someone it means you are interested to chat with them.
Although it might be possible some people are overusing nudge features that could prove to be bothersome and thus here you will also learn how to disable nudge features on TikTok.
How to use Nudge on TikTok?
When you nudge someone, they receive a notification informing them with a request to go live. In order to do that go to the profile of the person you want to nudge.
Now tap the bell icon that you see in the upper right, in case you don’t follow them already, you will be prompted to follow them once you tap the bell icon. Now click the “Nudge” option that you will find in the Live notification settings.
However, you may find that the nudge feature is not yet available to all the users because TikTok is still testing it.
There is one more way to nudge someone, by tapping the profile button in the bottom-right corner. In this manner when you nudge a person from profile history it means that you want to chat with them as you noticed they were checking your profile. Here you can only nudge people that you are friends with otherwise you will see a “follow” icon.
You can also nudge someone from the DM showing that you are looking for chatting or that they haven’t responded to your last text that you are notifying them about now.
How to turn off the nudge option?
If you are taking a break or don’t want to get bothered by a lot of nudge notifications, you can easily turn the notifications off. Here are the steps that you need to follow in order to turn off the notifications.
- Just go to your profile
- Tap on the 3-line menu bar that you see on the top right corner, that will show options.
