Besides his phenomenal skill on the basketball court, Kevin Durant is a pro player in the real estate space as well. His journey throughout his prosperous career in professional sports comes alive through the various properties he has owned over the years. From peaceful seaside escapes to glamorous urban homes, unique properties showcase the lifestyle of the NBA superstar. So, today, we have brought some of the unique properties in Kevin Durant’s real estate portfolio.
Malibu Beachfront Retreat – Kevin Durant House
In 2018, Durant purchased a modern-style beachfront property in Malibu, California, for $12.05 million. The 5,100-square-foot home contains four bedrooms and six bathrooms. The home’s overall layout is open and light-filled. The gourmet kitchen features Calcutta marble countertops and wide plank French oak flooring, providing a high-end feel. Other features of the home include a media room, gym, library, and outdoor spa, providing optimal living standards. Durant listed the home again in 2019 for $12.15 million.
Oakland Hills Mansion
While playing for the Golden State Warriors, Durant leased a modern 9,084-square-foot hilltop mansion in Oakland. It has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The family and kitchen area is an open layout with high ceilings, contributing to a greater spatial feeling for the home. Additionally, this property has a media room and an indoor basketball court for entertainment and exercise. In 2020, the home was on the market for just under $6 million.
Hidden Hills Estate
In 2021, Durant acquired a contemporary farmhouse-styled mansion in the gated community of Hidden Hills, Los Angeles, for $15.6 million. The 10,000-square-foot house is situated on a 1.8-acre lot at the very end of a cul-de-sac, providing privacy and seclusion. While there are limited details showing the interior design, the home features a large pool deck, a barbeque area, firepit, and blue-tiled swimming pool, which would lend itself well to relaxation or entertainment space.
Miami Penthouse
Durant’s real estate activities also include a Miami penthouse, which was owned during his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The penthouse is 3,500 square feet with three bedrooms and offers views out over the bay, the ocean, and the city skyline. The open-plan living area includes a chef’s kitchen, several living spaces, and a dining area. He designed the movie theater and placed speakers throughout the home. The building amenities include saunas, steam rooms, several pools, a gym, and a children’s playroom. In 2015 the penthouse was sold for $3.15 million and in 2024 it was listed for rent at $22,000 per month.
Kevin Durant’s array of residences illustrates an organized methodology about investing in real estate that strikes a good balance between comfort and price appreciation.
