John Cho, recognized for his performances in the “Harold & Kumar” films, and as Hikaru Sulu in the recent film “Star Trek” series, resides in Los Angeles, California. He likes to keep his personal life private but his fans know that he owns a luxurious mega-mansion in Malibu which took place in a property titled Villa Splendido. Villa Splendido is a 13,000 square foot, 7 bedroom home built in 2019, located on 17 acres on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

However, Villa Splendido is a fictional mansion in the show. The mansion is unrelated to John Cho’s personal estate. Fans want to know more about John Cho’s home life, but it is generally deemed rude not to appreciate the personal privacy of John Cho. Typically, the well-decorated, extravagant homes are used for the narrative values of the story, not to mirror the personal lives of actors.

Interior Design and Features – John Cho House

The 1920s Los Feliz villa spans nearly 4,000 square feet and is designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. It boasts interiors with exposed beam ceilings, leaded glass with stained-glass windows, and arched doorways for a classic effect. The step-down living room features a large stone fireplace, adding warmth and character to the space. The dining room continues this with a painted beam ceiling for a warm environment to gather with family and friends.

In Contrast, the chef’s kitchen is bright with turquoise tile backsplashes, white cabinetry, and dark wood countertops, including a small breakfast nook with French doors that fully opens to the central courtyard, combining indoor-outdoor living. A total of four large bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms make up the space. The main suite has a sun porch surrounded by windows for another quiet space bathed in natural light, with additional areas that can be used as home offices, home workouts, or a screening room.

Exterior Amenities

The outside of the villa is just as impressive, with a tiled octagonal swimming pool surrounded by tall palm trees, creating a private oasis for relaxation. Mosaic pathways are paved into the landscaped area so guests are free to take a leisurely stroll in the lush surroundings. The property emphasizes a continuity between the rooms in the home and the outdoor space, in true Spanish Colonial Revival fashion.

Personal Touches and Decor

Though we do not know specific details of Cho’s personal decor choices, many of the home’s architectural designs create a blend of historic charm and modern comforts. The stained-glass windows and exposed beam ceilings showcase the commitment to keeping the villa’s integrity, while the charmingly colored tiles in the kitchen add a little modern flair. These characteristics all likely emphasize a living space that balances beauty and elegant functionality.

John Cho’s choice of villa in Los Feliz emphasizes an appreciation for known architectural traditions and innovative design. The marriage of classic Spanish Colonial architecture and modern conveniences delivers a timeless home with modern amenities. This house exemplifies Cho’s aesthetic and offers us a way forward to preserve historical architecture and to modernize it for contemporary lifestyles.
