It is believed that when man came to earth, he lived alone, then gradually he lived with some groups, and thus gradually man became a social animal. Coming out of loneliness, he started establishing social relations in society. When man lived in the forest, he started worshiping various forms of nature to save himself from natural disasters, praying and performing various rituals, and at that time, tribal religion started.
Thus, gradually, when he became a social animal, he also got involved with various religions. Religion played a big part in his life, and thus, community centers of various religions and societies started being formed. Where a particular class was united and a feeling of helping society came into existence by discussing and considering how to move forward, religiously and socially.
So let’s know about one such community center, which is the Islamic Center of Rochester.
History and significance
The Islamic Center of Rochester is a community hub for the Muslim community in Rochester, New York. It is a center for religious, educational, and various community activities for the local Muslims. If we look into the history, its construction began in 1975 and was completed in 1985. The construction of this mosque was done by the architectural firm of Peter L. Morse & Associates and was constructed by the Contractors R.W. Scaccia & Sons.
Between 1990 and 2000, the area of this center was expanded, and a proper mosque and hall, and other spaces were built. Thus, it expanded to 8000 square feet. Its shape also attracts people. The Islamic Center of Rochester (ICR) is a rectangular building with minarets and large windows; its shape is also semi-circular, which is a distinctive element. Thus, it has become a major and significant landmark for the Rochester Muslim community.
Thus, when a person has any feelings for his society, for his people, for God, he comes to a place and experiences and expresses them. Thus, places like The Islamic Center of Rochester become necessary in a person’s life. Thus, you must know that such places hold a special place in a person’s life and bring unity and harmony in the society.
