How to Clean Waterproof Vinyl Plank Flooring – Easy Maintenance Guide

This new avatar of vinyl plank flooring is considered to have natural designs that can be easily installed as click-together planks.

Moreover, vinyl plank flooring has become a popular alternative option for people against wood floors in their homes globally, specifically in areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. These floors for any individual are not only easy to maintain as compared to any other traditional hardwood floors but are also moisture-resistant.

Ways to Clean Vinyl plank flooring after its installation 

Firstly, it is to note that if Vinyl plank flooring has been installed with glue then there is a chance that excess glue is sweeping out on the surface. In a situation such as this, you must avoid messing it up or try walking on the floor for about 24 hours to offer a proper adhesive time for clean finishing.

Once you realise that it has been set properly than its time for you to safely remove those excess products while ensuring not to damage your Vinyl plank flooring. To achieve this effectively, the following steps can be followed: 

  • Make the use of proper tools such as a scraper, a spray bottle and a floor stripper to help loosen the excess glue.
  • Spraying the floor while putting all the essential cleaning solution into a spray bottle while spriting a small portion of the glue that needs to be removed. 
  • Scrape up the glue only after it becomes soft and also make sure that your scraper is positioned parallel to the floor while applying a gentle downwards pressure to carefully remove the adhesive
  • Wiping clean with water or with a damped microfiber cloth alternatively can lead to deeper cleaning of Vinyl plank flooring. 

Furthermore, it is to be noted that Vinyl plank flooring is likely to be low maintenance but certain things need to be accounted for to extend the surface life. Factors such as dust, sand, grit, and more are the major enemies of Vinyl plank flooring.

You can avoid this by making effective use of a microfiber mop or high-quality vacuum cleaners as well as a soft broom. Here, you need to ensure that the vacuum you are using has a soft bristle or a fluffy roller attachment to avoid any scratches or tearing. 

Although Vinyl plank flooring is moisture resistant, it is not good to let any spills get set forever. Here, you can prefer using a steam mop on the surface to remove them. It is very crucial to take a note that combination of high temperature and excessive moisture as well as pressure may seep into cracks that can loosen the adhesive while making the floor swell up. so , make sure that you use damp microfiber cloth.
