The former professional boxer and American boxing promoter Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr., aka Floyd Joy Sinclair, was born on February 24, 1977. He competed between the years 1996 and 2017 and retired with an undefeated record. He won 15 major world championships spanning five weight classes, from super featherweight to light middleweight.
This record also includes the Ring magazine title in three weight classes. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal in the featherweight division at the 1996 Olympics, three US Golden Gloves championships(at light flyweight, flyweight, and featherweight), and the US national championship at featherweight. And when he retired from professional boxing in August 2017, he transitioned to exhibition boxing.
Early Life
Mayweather was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., was a former welterweight contender, and he had fought the Hall of Famer Sugar Ray Leonard. His uncles, Jeff Mayweather and the late Roger Mayweather, were professional boxers. His late uncle, Roger, was Floyd’s former trainer, winning two world championships, and he fought Hall of Famers, Julio César Chávez, Pernell Whitaker, and Kostya Tszyu. He was born into a family of boxers, and the genes didn’t fail him! He was born with his mother’s last name, Sinclair, but he changed it shortly after. His maternal grandfather was born in Kingston, Jamaica.
Floyd Mayweather House Tour
Floyd Mayweather Jr. has decided to sell his six-bedroom, 9.5 bath estate on North Crescent Drive from Spec mansion developer Nile Niami in Beverly Hills, CA. The mansion is 15,096 square feet on a half-acre lot, and it is estimated at $48 million. The listing was first reported on Mansion Global. Mayweather bought this house for $25.5 million in 2017. The estate offers sophisticated and cutting-edge design features that have been decorated with great detail during its ownership by Mayweather.
The rooms are set up in an open plan with really elegant and welcoming features, and are filled with marble, hardwood flooring, and mirrored walls to help bounce light around the room with the help of the French doors. It has a paneled library and den with a fireplace, built-in cabinets, and shelves.
The living room is beautiful shades of white, pearl gray, and cream, and the dining room has a formal setting and is near a well-equipped kitchen, and a beautiful home bar with a wall of wine storage. The primary suite looks luxurious with a fireplace and a large terrace. The walk-in closets are massive, and the dual bathrooms have an oval bathtub.
Let’s take a look at the guesthouse. There is a private movie theatre with large, comfortable seats, which can seat up to 20 guests. It also comes with a gym, staff quarters, and a big garage. Another interesting fact about the property is that it is a two-minute drive from the Beverly Hills Hotel, where celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Keanu Reeves, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle are known to frequent.
We’re not sure why Mayweather has decided to let go of the house he had for seven years, but he also has another property in Las Vegas, a brand new one, for $10 million in 2018. This house has two guesthouses, a pool house, a 20 car garage, and a private vineyard.
Mayweather also bought a $18 million Miami Beach compound in 2021, which is in the exclusive Palm Island enclave. He is also reportedly interested in buying an extravagant mansion for $119 million spec mansion in Los Angeles, which was built by Joe Englanoff, and which recently had a $20 million price cut.
Mayweather has a terrific presence during his fights, in the ring, and he was a world famous boxer, retiring undefeated from his career with 15 major world championships. He is also considered one of the top five best boxers of all time, and he is now a promoter of boxing.
